Serahn Bull Terriers

About Serahn kennels.

In 2005 I aquired my first BT, Boston .  In 2006 along came Moira, followed closely by Bonnie –Ray and in 2007...Steadman.  Look out for ‘Tess’ she is the 13 year old Rottweiler which the BT’s think is their mum.  When the BT’s first arrived, Tess gladly took on the role of mum.  She looked after them and loved playing with them.  Tess is well respected by the BT’s and she knows how to pull them back into line if they start getting to wound up.  She is skilled at calling for order and restoring calm.

They live in the rural township of Booral , located in the Hunter Valley .  Riverside Hills’is comprised of 60 acres of rolling countryside and open plains.  We have 400 m of Karuah River frontage.  The karuah is a special swimming spot for the BT’s (not all at once...you could only imagine) during summer.  I also own a sheep stud, specialising in black face suffolk .

The BT’s spend most of their day roaming around 2 enclosed acres.  The BT’s share their space with a 12 year old female Rottweiler, a 2 year old Tenterfield Terrier, 3 cats, several chooks and are surrounded by sheep and 2 horses.  After dinner, we go for a 30 min walk around the property giving the BT’s the chance to bounce around the place.  Horses, cows and sheep do not phase them in the slightest, they barely look at them.  They enjoy running in open space and sniffing around freely.

My aim is to breed BT’s which have excellent temperaments in order to show people that these creatures are like big huggable bears.  They deserve lots of time and attention and the needs of their curious mind must be catered for by providing lots of fun, games and interesting things to keep them entertained.  I have found that acceptance or tolerance has been learned through the provision of (supervised) social interaction with people, dogs and all of the other animals living on the farm.  Our BT’s have tight boundaries in order to live happily like this, but happy they are.  BT quality temperament will always remain a priority in my breeding!

I hope you enjoy looking at the moments I share with these special individuals.
